Teaching procedure:
Step 1. New words
Show some pictures to the students. Let them try to guess the meaning of each word, then read it and students repeat it. After teaching the words, ask the students to read the words by themselves. Then check the students if they can read the words.
Step 2. Listen and read
Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen. Pay attention to some key words. Play the recording a second time. This time students listen to the conversation carefully. Try to answer the questions. After listening, check the answers.
Listen to the tape and try to answer the following questions.
1. When is Ling Ling’s birthday?
2. It’s freezing, isn’t it?
3. What is Tony going to do for Spring Festival?
4. Where might Betty go? What’s the weather like there?
5. Where is Daming going? And what’s the weather like there?
Read the text. Let the students read the text. Pay attention to everyday English:

Step 3. Fill in the table.
Complete the table with the weather forecast for Spring Festival. Choose these words:
cloudy, cold, dry, freezing, hot, snow, sun, warm, wet, windy
Then ask students to say their different answers.
Step 4. Listen and check
Read the sentences. Let the students read the sentences first. Play the recording for the first time. Let the students grasp the main idea of the text.
The teacher checks the answers.
1. It’s always cold and wet in February in England.
2. It’s often freezing in February in England.
3. It’s always warm and dry in winter in England.
4. There will sometimes be snow in winter in England.
5. It’s usually hot in February in Australia.
6. It sometimes isn’t warm in winter in Hong Kong.

Step 5. Make a new dialogue and act
Sum up main knowledge of this unit. Teacher can lead the students sum up the main knowledge with one student like this.
A: Where are you going tomorrow/…?
B: We are going to the Great Wall/…
A: Do you know what the weather might or might not be like?
B: It will probably be cold/sunny/…
A: Have a good time!
B: Thank you!
Then do the same dialogue with several students. After that, teacher divided students into groups. Let students make a new dialogue like that. Several minutes later let students act their dialogue. Or teacher can let several groups act their dialogue in front of class.

Step 1. Revision
Make students say some sentences about the weather. Work in pairs.
Check the homework.
Step 2. New words
Show the flashcards. Let students try to guess the meaning of each word. Then read it and students repeat. After teaching the words, ask the students to read the words by themselves. At last check if they can read the words. Pay attention to the words northeast and northwest.
Show the picture. Make students look at the picture and the title of the unit.
Step 3. Free talk
Let students talk about which season they like best? Help students talk about like this:
Work in pairs. Discuss your favorite season.
1. Why do you like it?
2. What kind of things can you do in your favorite season?
3. What kind of clothes is best to wear?
As they talk, Move around the room monitoring their work. Offer language or pronunciation support as needed. After students finish, have the class listen to the result of talking. Teacher can have several groups to stand up and talk about the results.
Step 4. Yes or No questions
This activity gives students practice in reading for specific information. Ask the students to read the text and underline the main points of the text. You may want to set a time limit for the first reading to test the students scanning skills. After they read, let students answer Yes or No questions. Then check the answers.

As they talk, move around the classroom monitoring their work, offer language or pronunciation support as need. Then practice like this: First ask students to finish the dialogue as an example. Then teacher can ask other students to practice. After that, let students practice by themselves.

Step 2. Listening
This activity gives students the skill of listening. Play the recording for the first time, students listen carefully. Then choose the correct months. After that let students read the sentences in order to remember every sentence. Then have students listen, pay attention to some key words. Then for the second time, students check the sentences. After listening check the answers.
